description

This course introduces the student to the theological discipline focused on the art and science of preparing and delivering sermons and other discourses. It provides students with the tools and techniques to analyze scripture, structure messages, and communicate them effectively and engagingly to a congregation.

As a prerequisite to the Spring 2025 Course, Biblical Exegesis, the student works through  the task of interpreting scripture, selecting and organizing themes, and using illustrations and applications to make the message relevant to the audience. Students learn the skills of public speaking, including tone, posture, and word choice, to convey their message powerfully.
